Cooperation with DESTAG
Expansion of the company premises in Hartha by a further 10,000 m² and construction of 5,000 m² of hall space – cooperation with DESTAG Natursteinwerk GmbH from Reichenbach in the Odenwald region of Germany – completion of the solar power installation for fully sustainable Green Line production. Since 2010, JUST has generated an amount of electricity equivalent to its own consumption.

51 Years of JUST
In the company’s 51st year, another significant step was taken at the Hartha location in Germany. Back in 2001, we began production from raw blocks at our Polish site. Following the major changes in Poland over the previous two years, our experience showed Saxony to be one of the most attractive production locations in Europe.
The high level of qualification and reliability of our employees, together with the excellent logistics location, led us to make this expansion investment in Hartha. This step added approximately 3,550 m² of hall space and a further 7,000 m² of outdoor space.

New Construction
We are expanding our facilities to ensure a high-quality and well-assorted purchasing experience. The considerable expansion of our product range and the increased storage requirements resulting from almost 100% direct purchasing of all materials in their countries of origin made this step virtually essential.
New construction: 2,300 m² of hall space and 11,000 m² of outdoor space.

Expansion
A new millennium was approaching. For JUST Naturstein, this was an incentive to continue expanding our established philosophy step by step: “to supply natural stone processing companies as competently and comprehensively as possible.”
In the construction and landscaping sectors, our diversity, quality and logistics were already very well established. Only one major piece of the puzzle was still missing in the gravestone sector. Indian materials were readily available from many suppliers, but our aim was to maintain our high quality standards despite increasingly tough competition.
Our Polish site in Nowa Dęba was developed according to the same approach and philosophy. Today, a block wire saw and polishing machines are also in operation there, providing the basis for closing the material gap in the gravestone sector. Since then, materials including Aurora, Halmstad and Nero Impala have been available from our own production. The range was subsequently expanded to include Labrador Emerald, Blue Pearl, Vanga and Verde Olivo.

Investment Progress
Another major investment step was completed. Two separate sites were consolidated into one central location through the construction of an exhibition hall, office and conference areas, as well as a new production hall.
At the same time, investments were made in two additional processing lines. One processing line, featuring a CAD/CAM bridge saw and automatic belt processing machine, includes a CAD workstation for all types of design and construction work.
The second processing line, equipped with a CAD/CAM contour wire saw, is primarily used for gravestone production and enables us to respond quickly to individual customer requirements in addition to our standard trading range.

The Transformation
At the time of German reunification, the natural stone market changed just like all other markets. A wide variety of marble and granite types became available within a short period of time.
In 1991, we began pursuing two paths simultaneously. On the one hand, we invested in modern bridge saws and grinding machines meeting Western standards, creating a strong foundation for our current production capabilities. At the same time, we established a natural stone wholesale business and invested in land, warehouse facilities and logistics.
Due to the exceptional economic climate and the loyalty of our customers in the new German federal states, trading became our core business. In anticipation of the substantial decline in the construction industry, we began significantly expanding our trading and product range in 1996/97.
Today, in the fields of construction, gravestones and landscaping, we are one of the leading suppliers in eastern Germany and Eastern Europe for stonemasonry and installation companies as well as major projects.

Foundation
On March 15, 1956, Heinrich and Margarete Just founded a stonemasonry business. Many people today know the difficult conditions of the 1950s and 1960s in East Germany only from stories.
During the first two decades, the company’s work was almost exclusively focused on gravestones. As private home construction increased during the 1970s and 1980s, the production of stair treads and window sills was added.
Apart from a small number of locally sourced granites for gravestones, virtually no natural stone was available. In the construction sector, terrazzo accounted for almost 99% of the materials used. For the time, the company was well equipped with bridge saws and grinding machines, most of which were built in-house.
